Dragonfly is a real-time water monitoring system that uses current and emerging technologies to monitor the temperature, quality, flow and depth of watercourses. By using sensors placed directly in rivers and waterways, Dragonfly has the potential to transform the protection of the water environment, enhance water quality and safety, and positively impact the lives and connectivity of rural communities.

This innovative idea came to life during the CGI-led design sprint “Enabling the Rural Revolution – How can we enhance rural communities and the environment using emerging technologies?” at the Northumbrian Water Group Innovation Festival 2019.

Northumbrian Water and CGI are currently working together to develop a prototype of Dragonfly.
