As partners to public and private health organizations, CGI healthcare experts build and manage business, clinical and IT solutions for our clients’ most complex and mission-critical operations.
CGI has a unique position as a trusted adviser across the health ecosystem, serving providers, payers, government health regulators and life sciences firms. Our dedicated health practice helps clients anticipate challenges and achieve real transformation by addressing business and policy issues in parallel with technology for better engagement, adoption and results.
We actively participate in associations such as AHIMA, HIMSS and HFMA to continually advance our knowledge. We also use the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Triple Aim as a guidepost for considering how our solutions can improve the patient experience, reduce the cost of care delivery, and improve the health of populations.
In the U.S., CGI has long-standing relationships with numerous federal healthcare organizations. Example engagements include:
Medicare.gov, MyMedicare.gov and CMS.gov collectively enable the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to help citizens make informed and personalized healthcare decisions. CGI’s work has helped turn static sites into portals that act as the healthcare gateway for 100 million Americans.
The Open Payments national physician transparency program fulfills Section 6002 of the Affordable Care Act. CGI built and supports the Open Payments system which allows citizens to gain insight into financial transactions between providers and pharmaceutical, biologic and medical device manufacturers. Through December 2017, Open Payments published 51.53 million records, representing $33.09 billion in payments.
PECOS, Medicare’s provider and supplier enrollment system (with over 3 million enrollees) safeguards the Medicare trust fund and expenditures and provides controls to maintain data integrity.
The Promoting Interoperability (formerly EHR Incentive) program registration and attestation system has generated more than $30 billion in Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive payments for eligible providers to date.
CGI has supported high-profile initiatives for Medicare Advantage and Part D programs, including the modernized MARx system which transacts over a trillion dollars of Medicare payments.
CGI works with the Federal Health Architecture (FHA) and strategic partners to develop the U.S. government’s most widely adopted open source gateway for the secure exchange of health information. Known as CONNECT, this transport gateway enables a patient’s health record to follow his or her journey throughout the healthcare system. Learn more about CGI and federal health data exchange.
CGI designed the CONNECT Empowering Opioid Exchange pilot program for HHS to identify potential misuse of prescription drugs by linking federally managed patient records with state prescription data records.
CGI provides healthcare claims auditing and recovery services for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), through CGI ProperPay, an innovative set of financial waste, fraud and abuse identification and tracking capabilities that have saved billions of dollars for government and commercial clients.
CGI provides information management services to support the CDC’s public health projects worldwide.
CGI also plays a lead role in developing an HL7 national standard for public health case reporting and for the national standard to send information back to clinical care from public health. HL7 is a not-for-profit, ANSI-accredited standards developing organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive framework and related standards for the exchange, integration, sharing, and retrieval of electronic health information that supports clinical practice and the management, delivery and evaluation of health services.
