Improve wind turbine performance using Power Curve Analytics

Link your turbine data to RMS and detect, analyse and resolve underperformance.

RMS already featured Efficiency KPIs which measured the performance of renewable assets, but the new Power Curve Analytics allow the user to activate underperformance detection for any generator or power plant, triggering alert messages via the notification system whenever a set of built-in performance thresholds is breached.

With the ability to display multiple power curves simultaneously, RMS features a dashboard where the user can select and add any power curve for comparison. RMS also enables the creation of virtual power curves by selecting the source and the filters applied to the various inputs (wind turbine, time period, operating status, wind speed, wind direction, active power and temperature).

In this dashboard, every Power Curve Chart shows measured, historical or reference power curves, wind and production deviations and scattered points, whereas the Performance Chart shows, for the selected power curve, its performance KPIs. Whenever these indicators are evidence of underperformance, RMS performs a diagnostic using the available data, and presents a probable cause for the lack of performance, as well as the probability value. This automatic diagnosis greatly decreases the time for analysis, thus accelerating the resolution of performance issues and reducing efficiency-related production losses.

5-7 February, New Orleans

CGI will be in New Orleans next month, at the annual DistribuTECH event, which will this year host 11,500 attendees, with over 300 utility companies represented.

You’ll find us at booth #10817 with experts ready to talk to you about a range of solutions covering both energy distribution and generation.

And why not mix business with pleasure and join us at a private reception at ‘Mardi Gras World’? You’ll enjoy a relaxing evening and see the fabulous carnival floats being built, just a month before the big day! Get in touch today to secure your place.

Generg picks RMS to support internationalisation

Hot on the heels of a successful implementation of the RMS platform for renewable plants in Portugal, European energy producer Generg has signed a contract with CGI to integrate their international portfolio.

The first site – the Bois Jolie wind farm in France – has already been connected to Generg’s renewables operation centre. Wind and solar PV plants across France, Italy, Poland and Bulgaria are slated to be integrated into the platform over the coming months. This will enable Generg to monitor, operate and improve the performance of their diverse, multi-technology portfolio seamlessly across country borders, from a single platform.

Wind Europe

2-4 April, Bilbao

In April this year, the annual Wind Europe Conference & Exhibition will be held in Bilbao, Spain. For three full days, more than 8000 industry experts and 400 exhibitors from 50 countries will get together to expand their knowledge base, make new contacts and develop their vision for the future, at Europe’s most important event for the wind industry. CGI will be at the event to demonstrate the latest RMS features, and to show clients how they can use RMS to increase revenue, and extend the lifetime of their assets. Come and join us at stand 3-F43. If you’re interested in learning more about how RMS can help you resolve underperformance, book a demo with us now!

EDP Renewables expands reach with RMS

2018 was another year of expansion for renewable energy giant EDPR, in which they added more than 800MW of installed capacity to their international portfolio of renewable assets. In total, twelve wind farms were added across Europe, Brazil and North America, plus three solar PV plants in the USA. Last year all of these assets were connected to the CGI RMS platform that EDPR uses to manage and control its entire worldwide portfolio.
