Health information exchange

Advancing the use of health IT to improve quality of care

Growing communities of government organizations, health systems and insurers are seeking to acquire information for better decisions through health information exchanges. CGI has partnered with clients in North America and Europe to advance their visions of securely exchanging health information to improve healthcare quality.

In the U.S., CGI has partnered with the federal Department of Health and Human Services to build and develop CONNECT, the most widely adopted open source gateway used by public and private entities to exchange health information in a secure, interoperable manner. Additionally, we designed, built and operate an end-to-end program to manage a state’s Medicaid EHR Incentive payment program through our CGI Medicaid Incentive360® solution, A key function of the solution facilitates health information exchange of clinical quality measures clinical providers must submit to receive incentive payments. CGI’s solution uses open source technology and a service-oriented architecture to enable the receipt, capture, validation and storage of the clinical quality measures required by the program.

In Europe, the NHS Isle of Wight is a whole health economy representing primary, secondary and social care across the island off the south coast of England. CGI worked with the authorities to deliver the eCareLogic solution, which aggregates patient data from multiple agencies, displaying various clinical, administrative and operational portals to provide a single view of the citizenry of the island.

In Canada, CGI developed Alberta’s Provincial Health Information Exchange (pHIE) in 2007 and continues to provide consulting services to this critical solution.
