Alessandro leads CGI’s Space business in Italy and is the Product Manager for Insula, the Earth observation (EO) platform as a service and core service for Destination Earth (DestinE) and the European Space Agency’s Multi-Mission Algorithm and Analysis Platform (ESA MAAP ). The platform enables scalable access to and analysis of large-scale EO and climate data. He also acts as an Industry Scientific Coordinator for the ESA Φsat-2 mission, a pioneering initiative that demonstrates the use of AI directly onboard satellites.
Alessandro is an expert in EO and AI, with many years of experience supporting the ESA across a wide range of exploitation and innovation projects. At the European Space Research Institute (ESRIN), he contributed to the Application Exploitation Platform (AEP) program, supporting the setup, deployment, and pre-operations of multiple Thematic Exploitation Platforms at the European level, aimed at maximizing the exploitation of EO data.
