Our partnerships with clients

Working with clients to make a difference

As part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility, we work with clients on a broad range of projects that benefit not only their businesses, but society as a whole. Across industries, we partner with clients, as well as industry bodies, to develop and implement solutions that drive environmental and energy sustainability, protect the welfare of children and improve the lives of citizens.

Below are examples of these projects.

  • Child welfare: Our leading child welfare solution is used by more than 35,000 case workers in the U.S. As a pro bono project in partnership with the Foster Youth Education Fund, we also developed a solution that eases the transition from foster care to self-sufficiency.
  • Future cities: CGI partners with cities and regions to develop innovative solutions in energy and water management, intelligent transportation, health and social services, and more. Learn more at cgi.com/future-cities.
  • Law enforcement: The Police National Database, built and operated by CGI, is a critical intelligence system serving every police force in the UK. With a database of 2.5 billion records, it allows forces to work together to make connections between suspects, events and locations.

  • CO2 optimization: CGI is delivering an innovative business intelligence approach with state-of-the-art technologies and a CO2 optimized infrastructure in partnership with the Deutsche Bahn Group.
  • Waterway freight movement: Our River Information Services (RIS) solution for Schelderadarketen (SRK) harmonizes and enriches data, enabling interoperability between SRK applications and various partner systems and improving the safety, effectiveness and environmental friendliness of inland waterway freight movement.
  • Big data analytics: CGI is part of the European Research project, iCargo, which is exploring Innovative logistics solutions for the sharing of real time information in an easy, secure and controlled manner across the entire supply chain to drive efficiencies, safety and sustainability.

  • Railway safety: CGI’s SIGMA solution, developed with Dutch railway operator ProRail, improves the efficiency, safety and sustainability of railway transportation for more than one million Dutch passengers and 115,000 tons of goods. It received the Esri Outstanding Partners award in 2014.

Harnessing innovative ideas with and for our clients

Whether implementing new systems and solutions or finding creative ways to make the most of clients’ current investments, CGI has an established track record of developing solutions that deliver value to clients’ customers and citizens.

The CGI ICE program encourages members to explore and develop new ideas and recognizes them for results. For private sector leaders, this means helping organizations leverage innovation to adapt quickly to changing economies, global markets and competition, and to tap into emerging trends and technologies for their next source of growth. For the public sector, this translates to improving the efficiency, quality and accountability of public services, helping them to engage with their citizens and create opportunities for local economic growth

Supporting our clients’ community service work

CGI’s desire to partner with clients extends beyond providing the business and technology solutions they need to drive profitable growth. It also encompasses supporting the charitable causes that are important to them and that improve the local communities in which we do business together.

Examples of how we partner with clients to make a difference include the following:

  • Swedish banks: Since 2007, CGI has been working with Swedish banks, non-profit organizations and the Swedish National Police Board to help end the commercial sexual exploitation of children by preventing the processing of associated payments. With significant payment solution expertise, CGI is part of a coalition focused on developing new approaches and solutions for identifying and stopping payments related to abuse.
  • Foresters™: Foresters, a leading life insurance provider, has been a CGI client since 2004. In 2008, we began partnering with the company to build homes for Habitat for Humanity. Each year, Foresters and CGI professionals organize and participate in multiple home-building events to help provide housing for disadvantaged families.
  • Bombardier Aerospace: When long-time CGI client Bombardier Aerospace organized a plane pulling event to raise funds for the fight against ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, CGI was there. CGI professionals came in fourth place out of 11 teams, hauling a 17,800 Q400 NextGen passenger plane a distance of 258 feet. The one-day event raised more than $50,000.
  • The Beer Store: CGI’s support for The Beer Store extends beyond providing IT outsourcing services. We also participate in the company’s annual Returns for Leukemia Bottle Drive, which raises funds for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. CGI members devote a weekend each year to collecting bottles for the cause, which has raised millions in the fight against leukemia. (Read more about The Beer Store–CGI partnership – PDF.)
