The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), the nation's largest municipal utility serving water and electricity needs to 3.8 million residents and businesses in Los Angeles, has chosen CGI-AMS, the wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. (CGI) (TSX: GIB.SV.A; NYSE: GIB) for a three-year, multi-million dollar contract. CGI-AMS will access CGI's global capabilities by providing software maintenance and enhancements for its Outage (OMS), Network (NMS) and Mobile Dispatch (MDS) software applications.
LADWP, a client for over 15 years, will leverage CGI's utility solutions software and implementation expertise as well as its existing service delivery infrastructure to further enhance user support. Additional specialized services include business process enhancements, support for hardware and software platforms, training and software upgrades related to CGI's solution suite.
The functions and flexibility of CGI's integrated application provide LADWP with an important and strategic asset for the improvement of customer service. This has been achieved by reducing the duration of service outages and by making it possible to promptly inform customers of the exact outage cause and the predicted time-to-repair.
“In our industry, our focus is to serve our clients by providing them with services within a safe and environmentally sound manner. Broadening our existing relationship with CGI will enable us to stay focused on the core competency of our business while benefiting from our partners recognized industry expertise and best-of-breed technology and services,” said Paul Schultz, OMS/MDS project manager with LADWP.
François Ouzilleau, vice-president of consulting services for CGI's utility solutions sector added: “We are very excited about evolving our services with our client as it is key to providing them with maximum value. This effort continues our long-term history with the Department of Water and Power, and exhibits our commitment to Southern California's public sector and utility clients. We look forward to fostering our partnership with LADWP and helping them find efficiencies to achieve excellence in their business performance.”
CGI's utility solutions sector develops software systems designed to manage all aspects of mission-critical operations, focusing on the network - and operations-centric requirements of the utilities industry. Offering a modular or fully integrated outage, network and mobile workforce management environment, the solutions provide feature-rich and field-proven technology to optimize real-time distribution operations workflows and improve the service levels necessary for continued customer satisfaction.
