EPB of Chattanooga has selected CGI Group Inc. (CGI) (TSX: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB), a
leading provider of utility software solutions and services to deliver Outage
(OMS) and Mobile Workforce Management (MWM) solutions that will enhance outage
management and power distribution operations as well as automate the work of
field resources, dispatchers, supervisors, and operations personnel.
EPB
will implement this state-of-the-art OMS/MWM System as a key component of an
aggressive corporate strategy to enhance customer service levels and system
reliability while further automating and increasing operational efficiencies.
EPB’s business objectives for this project are to:
- establish a
single operational system for the management of short-cycle work - enhance
its ability to schedule and dispatch work to field personnel - develop a
robust and comprehensive system for gathering and analyzing information from a
variety of sources - accurately identify outage locations and effectively
manage and track restoration activities
To help meet these objectives,
CGI’s utility solutions team will implement its PragmaLINETM OMS
Solution. This will handle the gathering, recording and automatic grouping of
trouble calls, the location and identification of electrical problems on the
distribution network, the management of device repairs and the creation of
switching plans.
CGI will also implement its PragmaCADTM MWM
solution to coordinate the movements and operations of EPB’s workforce. This
automates the allocation, scheduling, assignment, dispatch and monitoring of
field resources. Once fully implemented, CGI’s solution suite will be integrated
to customer information (CIS), SCADA, IVR and several other EPB systems,
providing real-time source information to optimize operations and core business
processes.
“Investing in an integrated solution ensures that we continue
to exceed our commitment to our customers,” says Steve Clark, Vice-President of
Strategic Systems, EPB. “CGI’s industry-leading solution will arm our control
room and field service teams with the technology to deal with service issues
immediately and effectively.”
“Careful planning, system design and
implementation will ensure effective solution development and rollout”, he adds.
“CGI’s phased-in approach ensures that each step of the process is thorough,
understood and adopted by our people and implemented with no disruption to the
daily services that our field personnel provide.”
François Ouzilleau,
Sector Vice-President of CGI’s Utility Solutions, says, “CGI is delighted to
play this pivotal role in the realization of EPB’s vision of increased
efficiency and higher levels of customer responsiveness and productivity. Our
solution fits perfectly with EPB’s vision of a single operations system for the
management of all short-cycle work and is flexible enough to accommodate rapid
changes to EPB’s business objectives, drivers, organizational structures and
resource pool.”
