CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A), a leading provider of information technology and business process services, today announced it has been selected by the State of Utah to provide consulting services focused on enhancing the consumer experience for the Utah Health Exchange (UHE). CGI will deliver technology and business process analysis and recommendations to the State as they seek to transform the UHE to be more useful for consumers when making health plan coverage decisions.

“Our goal is to identify what information consumers find useful when it comes to making health plan  decisions and determining the best way to present that information to them,” said Dr. Norman Thurston, Health Policy and Reform Initiatives Coordinator, Utah Department of Health. “CGI is a valuable partner for this project as they bring a wealth of expertise from their health portal work for the federal government as well as their commercial retail practice.”

CGI’s analysis will focus on the user interface necessary to provide education and decision support to consumers who are making health plan coverage choices including choosing a provider, browsing health plans, enrolling in health plans or engaging in wellness activities. Combined with its state, federal and commercial health and insurance experience, CGI will draw from its commercial retail practice for best practices regarding consumer online shopping.

“Through our work on public sector health portals, CGI has a unique perspective on the goals of outreach, education and consumer empowerment,” said Holli Ploog, Vice-President, CGI. “We are excited for the opportunity to advise Utah on what we have seen work best from our 20+ years of experience. We have a long history of getting in on the ground level of transformation and helping our clients tackle these types of complex issues.”
