For professionals today, the pace of change is relentless. Technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming how we work. Climate events, demographic shifts, and geopolitical uncertainty layer additional pressures onto our daily lives. At CGI, we recognize the importance of addressing this uncertainty—not just to help our clients achieve business outcomes, but to help our people thrive.
Stress, anxiety, and burnout are real consequences of living and working in an era of continuous change. They don’t just affect individuals, they ripple out, influencing team dynamics and collaboration. We believe that mental resilience isn’t just a personal strength; it’s a shared responsibility across the organization.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
This is why May, recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, holds special significance for us. It’s an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind one another that mental well-being is just as important as physical well-being.
Throughout May, CGI offices around the world host events that reflect local needs and cultures—from webinars on psychological safety in the U.S. to neurodiversity and cognitive ergonomics in Germany. In APAC, mindfulness art sessions and acupressure workshops offer a creative outlet for stress relief. These initiatives aim to spark conversations, encourage self-reflection, and foster connection.
Developing mental resilience as a skill
Mental resilience can be built with the right support, the right mindset, and the right tools. At CGI, we believe in equipping our people not just to cope, but to adapt and thrive.
A strong support system begins with leadership. Core among our leadership behaviors is to “promote a culture of open dialogue by listening with presence, intent and empathy and encouraging the open expression of ideas and opinions.” To help bring this behavior to life, we train our leaders to recognize signs of mental health struggles and to respond with empathy and practical help. Our global "Well-being Minute" initiative encourages leaders to begin team meetings with a short reflection or discussion on mental well-being. This simple act sends a powerful message: it’s okay to talk about how you’re really doing.
Our leaders also have access to tools like CGI Academia, our online global learning platform and AI simulations, which help develop interpersonal and stress management skills. And we’re proud of our network of over 600 Mental Health Ambassadors worldwide—trained colleagues who guide others toward the right resources when they need them most.
A shared responsibility
According to research from the Resilience Research Centre at Dalhousie University, resilience isn’t just about individual grit. It’s about access to resources and support systems. Families, workplaces, and communities all play a role in helping people navigate life’s inevitable ups and downs.
That’s why our approach at CGI is holistic. Our health and well-being strategy—refined over more than 20 years—aims to create work environments where our people feel psychologically safe, capable, and valued. Whether it’s through our 24/7 My Assistance Program for counseling and coaching or learning resources to help CGI Partners grow their skills and confidence, we provide tools that support well-being at every stage of their career.

Measuring impact
What gets measured gets managed. And when it comes to well-being, we want to know what’s working—and where we need to do better. In 2025, we added a new question to our CGI Partner Satisfaction Assessment Program asking CGI Partners how satisfied they are with CGI’s support of their health and well-being. The current score: 8.96 out of 10.
We’re also proud to be recognized externally for our efforts. In Canada, we received the Platinum Excellence Award for the Mental Health at Work certification. In India, we were named one of the 50 Best Workplaces in Health & Wellness. And in Finland, we were certified as a Mental Health Friendly Workplace. These accolades reflect our commitment—but more importantly, they validate the experiences of our people.

Resilience for the future
As we look ahead, we continue to embed health and well-being into the very foundation of how we operate. In our endeavor for continuous improvement, we examine our management practices, redesign work processes, and reinforce our culture to support long-term resilience—not just short-term fixes.
At CGI, we believe that building mental resilience isn’t a one-time event. It’s a journey—one that involves reflection, conversation, learning, and care. It doesn’t mean never feeling stressed or overwhelmed. It’s about how we respond to those moments, how we bounce back from setbacks, and how we grow through uncertainty.
