Air Canada and CGI today announced the signing of an agreement based on which CGI will support, maintain and assist in the evolution of the airline's Peoplesoft enterprise resource planning system for finance, human resources and pay systems. The agreement, which extends over a five-year period, is expected to generate revenue of approximately $18 million for CGI.

As part of this agreement, Air Canada will have access to CGI's full-fledged competency centre in Montreal. CGI specialists will also support Air Canada in Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg with change management, applications production and system enhancement services, in addition to user support.

Air Canada is Canada's largest airline, employing 23,000 people across Canada and internationally. The Montreal-based carrier and its regional subsidiaries offer passenger and cargo operations to 120 destinations world-wide and served more than 14 million customers in 1997. Air Canada is a founding member of Star Alliance.
