CGI Group Inc (NYSE: GIB; TSX: GIB.A), a leading provider of information technology and business process services today donated $60,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan given the recent tragic events taken place last month..  

When disaster strikes, organizations like the Red Cross step in to assist in recovery and relief efforts. After the March 11, 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear emergencies in Japan, CGI wanted to helpCGI members in the U.S. made personal financial contributions toward helping families affected by the recent disasters and, after just three weeks, donations totaled $45,000. CGI has matched $15,000 for a total of $60,000 donated to help the American Red Cross with relief efforts in Japan.

The American Red Cross is in direct communication with the Japanese Red Cross as they update their needs based on ongoing assessments and response activities, and already sent initial commitments of $60M to help the survivors of the Japan tragedies. CGI’s donation will go directly toward helping the Japanese people rebuild and recover during this very difficult time.
