DBM Technologies L.L.C. has chosen CGI Group Inc (CGI) (TSX: GIB.SV.A; NYSE: GIB) for a five-year, end-to-end managed information technology (IT) services agreement.

DBM Technologies was recently spun off from parent company Plastech Engineered Products Inc. and as a result, had to transition all of their business systems. The company made a strategic decision to bypass establishing an internal IT department to ensure complete focus on their core business. Access to best IT practices in a scaleable solution would ensure that they could accommodate future growth resulting from increased demand and acquisition. As a result, they opted to outsource all IT functions to CGI with its end-to-end Managed Services solution.

CGI will manage all of DBM Technologies' mission-critical application requirements including managing the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and online automated data collection solution. Of particular note, CGI will provide a hosted Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solution, managing fully compliant EDI for all of DBM's customers, suppliers and inter-plant requirements.

On the technology management front, CGI will provide data center, network and system management as well as help desk support for desktop and applications. Finally, CGI will provide DBM Technologies with email via their Microsoft Shared Exchange environment.

"Our core business is to deliver superior blow molding plastics to the automotive industry - not manage IT. CGI's experience implementing enterprise systems in over one hundred automotive parts plants was key to our decision", says Barry Kempa, CFO of DBM Technologies. "The tailored solution provides immediate benefit and their partnership frameworks ensure continuous improvement. As we grow, our agreement with CGI will provide us with essential flexibility, reliability and scalability. It ensures that we maintain control of strategic decision making and IT processes."

Doug McCuaig, CGI senior vice president and general manager, Greater Toronto Area adds: "Our partnership with DBM Technologies demonstrates how CGI can effectively align our services to our clients' business. This approach ensures that DBM Technologies benefit from a highly personalized combination of services delivered with the highest degree of quality and accountability."
