CGI is proud to announce that it has been retained for a 5-year Application Service Provider (ASP) project with le Centre hospitalier Angrignon, worth a few million Canadian dollars. As part of the project, CGI will implement SAP healthcare financial solutions and MediSolution (MSH:TSE) Human Resources and Payroll solutions to a minimum of 125 desktops within the centre. This agreement positions CGI as the first systems integrator in Canada to apply SAP solutions to an ASP model in the healthcare sector.

"We are very pleased and share in the pride of building such an innovative and momentous project," states François Lemoyne, director of administrative services, Centre hospitalier Angrignon. "We believe CGI will provide us with a flexible and progressive solution that will allow us to better streamline our resources while ensuring the highest level of security in the safeguarding of our records but above all, we can continue providing the best possible care to our patients."

The hospitals that make up le Centre hospitalier Angrignon, Verdun and LaSalle hospitals, will function independently as of April 2001 when the centre disbands. As a result, the hospitals are looking to acquire individual, integrated administrative systems that they could both use to track their performance on a case by case basis without taking on complicated IT tasks. Sharing their management vision, CGI brought forth the ASP model, based on SAP and MédiSolution solutions, as a means of accomplishing their case costing while effectively managing their clinical and administrative procedures.

Jean Brassard, president and COO of CGI, states, "This agreement allows CGI, a leading provider of ERP solutions, to further develop its presence in the ASP market. Our ASP offering allows companies and organizations to maximize their resources and provides them with the most up-to-date IT infrastructure without the major initial investment."

Daniel Lefebvre, accounts director, SAP Canada, added: "This is the first time SAP solutions are applied in an ASP model in the healthcare industry in Canada, and we are pleased to be part of this important project. SAP is committed to providing the healthcare industry with the most efficient and seamless solutions and the ASP model enables the best possible implementation of these solutions."

"MédiSolution and CGI have been working together to bring broader and more complete solutions to the Canadian healthcare community," says Jacques A. Nadeau, president of MédiSolution, Quebec-Atlantic Division. "This agreement crystallizes the potential to offer world-class solutions that increase efficiency at an affordable cost."

As part of the renewable ASP contract, CGI's role will be twofold: firstly, as systems integrator, CGI will be responsible for creating a network infrastructure and for developing a Web-based interface that will enable access via the Internet. Secondly, as the Applications Service Provider, CGI will integrate and host both SAP's and MediSolution's suite of solutions and provide the Centre hospitalier Angrignon with 24-hour support. CGI will also be responsible for all software and hardware maintenance, modifications and additions throughout the contract term. CGI already generates approximately CDN$100 million annually in ASP-based services with its Retail Financial Services (RFS) for Windows NT banking solution, which it provides to credit unions across Canada, and the Company also serves the property and casualty insurance industry with ASP-based services using technology from various providers.
