Health Management Associates, Inc. (NYSE:HMA) based in Naples, Florida and CGI, with US headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia announce the signing of a multi-year agreement for a Sovera® for Health Information Management (HIM) solution. The initial roll-out to ten facilities makes this contract the largest Sovera engagement to date.
HMA is the premier operator of acute care hospitals throughout the United States, particularly in the southeast areas of non-urban America.
“To sustain our expansion throughout the United States, HMA must continually seek ways to increase staff productivity and operational efficiency without sacrificing customer care and service,” says Jim Jordan, Senior Vice President and CIO at HMA. “Because the Sovera ECM (enterprise content management) solution is easily integrated into existing client-record applications, it eases the stress that growth often exerts on workflow processes.”
CGI-AMS will introduce the solution – which encompasses hardware, software and professional services - to 10 of 60 HMA facilities in a pilot program with plans to expand the implementation scope to all locations over time. Sovera for HIM will greatly enhance access to patient records by converting paper-based records into electronic versions. HIM professionals as well as clinicians and physicians will have full access to online charts at anytime and from anywhere. Sovera for HIM, is based on proven, web-based architecture and is used by hundreds of hospitals and clinics throughout North America.
"The CGI-AMS solution, which operates on a enterprise content management platform, provides significant advantage when it comes to accessing centralized data from facilities spread out geographically," said John George, director, CGI-AMS. The enterprise content management platform brings stability, reliability and scalability. It is able to handle vast amounts of information - enabling content to be delivered where and when it is needed."
Sovera for HIM is one solution in the Sovera family which also includes Patient Financial Services, Human Resources and Content Connector. All Sovera solutions are HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) compliant for patient record security and privacy.
The healthcare solutions group at CGI provides expertise in regulatory compliance, clinical systems, reimbursement and finance, operations and technology. Since 1992, the company has served hundreds of healthcare clients throughout the U.S. and Canada, including hospitals, health systems, managed care organizations, private insurance companies and governmental payers.
