CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) today announced the availability of CGI ProperPay in the Microsoft Azure cloud. CGI ProperPay is an end-to-end solution designed to combat the waste, fraud and abuse associated with healthcare claims. The new agreement delivers these capabilities in a highly secure cloud environment compliant with leading international and industry-specific standards, including ISO 27001, HIPAA and FedRAMP.

CGI ProperPay helps organizations predict hidden patterns and anomalies within their claims data, uses analytics to prevent fraudulent activity and keep patients safer; delivers the security to protect health information, and utilizes technology to identify, stop and recover improper payments to preserve healthcare funds and revenue. The solution dramatically reduces the likelihood of losses due to insurance claim fraud, waste and abuse. In the past 5 years alone, CGI government and commercial clients have recovered more than US$2.1 billion of improperly paid medical and pharmacy claims.

“CGI has been combating fraud in the healthcare market for more than 25 years. Our end-to-end CGI ProperPay solution predicts, identifies, manages and recovers medical and pharmacy claims that have been paid inappropriately,” said CGI Vice President Rob Rolf. “We offer ProperPay in the secure cloud to help payers to recover lost money in order to preserve funds, be more competitive with pricing and products, retain members, comply with new requirements, and even improve patient care coverage.”

CGI ProperPay delivers significant benefits to health insurers globally. The offering is configurable to an organization’s specific business rules and reimbursement methodologies; and its predictive analytics, workflow, and rules management now available in the secure Microsoft Azure cloud deliver even greater elasticity and power. CGI helps insurers make swift progress on their transformation in the digital economy.

“By leveraging the Microsoft Cortana Intelligence Suite, including machine learning and analytics, CGI ProperPay will help transform the recovery of lost payments due to improper claims,” said Neil Jordan, General Manager of Worldwide Health, Microsoft Corp. “The Microsoft Azure cloud provides industry-leading security measures and privacy policies, enabling CGI ProperPay to meet rigorous compliance standards and requirements with sensitive patient claim data.”
