National Vehicle Service (NVS), a-not-for-profit company today announced the
development of a shared database of automobile information for cars in Canada,
the United States and Mexico.

This service will identify potentially
stolen or unsafe vehicles that were transported over international borders.
Additional information that will be available includes:

  • lien
    verification
  • on-line vehicle auction information
  • impounded US and
    Canadian vehicle identification
  • vehicles exported from the U.S
  • Canadian insurance claims
  • U.S. total vehicle loss
  • U.S., Canadian and
    Mexican theft verification

"The addition of this verification process to
timely data sources from across North America to CGI's AutoPlus suite of
products will allow our clients to make informed decisions based on the true
status of the vehicle from an insurability point of view," said Wayne Beck,
Vice-President, Consulting Services, CGI. "We are committed to addressing the
changing flow of vehicles between Canada and the United States by adding
additional sources of information to the verification process to insure our
clients are aware of the true identity of each vehicle which will enhance the
overall value proposition of our services."

CGI’s Autoplus is Canada’s
largest database of automobile policy and claims containing 40 million policy
records and 30 million claims that span more than 15 years.

“I am very
confident that this data exchange partnership will assist National Vehicle
Service to achieve our mission to be recognized as a world leader in providing
unique vehicle theft, vehicle fraud and asset protection solutions to the law
enforcement community, vehicle finance, insurance and rental car industries,"
says Jim Spiller, President and CEO of National Vehicle Service and retired
