Fairfax, Virginia, May 3, 2005

CGI Group Inc. (CGI) (TSX: GIB.SV.A; NYSE: GIB) today announced at the Billing and OSS World conference in Philadelphia, PA, the launch of IPCentricITy TM a concept that encompasses CGI's strategic vision and action plan for the future of the communications industry.

The use of Internet Protocol (IP) technology to integrate and transport voice, fax, video and data traffic on an IP-based network is one of today's most profound business revolutions. The move away from separate voice and data networks is transforming how companies interact with customers, employees and suppliers, creating new opportunities to reduce costs, improve service and increase revenue.

“Within the context of IPCentricITy TM, CGI has formalized innovative communications provider-specific solutions for the definition, design and delivery of revenue-producing services using IP technology,” said Cindy Ryland-Glynn, CGI director of consulting services.

One of these solutions, the IPCentricITy ™ Service Delivery Solution (SDS), provides a framework of application components, application templates and tools for the rapid introduction of revenue-producing services. It delivers a wealth of business advantages, including reusable service portability across multiple networks and a flexible, resourceful environment for new service development and delivery.

By segregating the service layer from the physical network, SDS enables communications providers to profitably deliver enhanced services despite constantly changing physical network conditions. The component-based SDS framework can be deployed at low entry costs in a highly reliable and scaleable environment, delivering unmatched performance.

A second solution, Tapestry® Adjunct Rater, is engineered to meet the challenges providers face as they expand their product suite to include the next generation of IP services.

“Tapestry Adjunct Rater enables providers to deploy a flexible and extremely powerful rating engine that supports both traditional and next generation XoIP services while preserving existing mediation and billing solutions,” said Keith Pigue, executive consultant with CGI-AMS, the wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI. “Integrating Tapestry Adjunct Rater with current billing solutions is a sensible alternative to the extremely costly and time consuming initiative of replacing legacy solutions.”

Tapestry® Service Manager, CGI-AMS' enterprise order management solution, is also part of the IPCentricITy portfolio. Service Manager enables providers to quickly and effectively support the provisioning and activation of both on-network and off-network bundled services with one integrated order management solution.

“Tapestry Service Manager's powerful workflow management, automated error correction, and new management dashboards enable providers to improve order flow-through while simultaneously accommodating an even more complex systems infrastructure to support IP services,” said Keith Pigue.

CGI's dedicated IPCentricITy ™ Solution Center enables the company and its clients to test and demonstrate next-generation services to increase revenue and provide a competitive edge. Services offered by CGI include:

  • Enhanced network services, including enterprise applications, messaging, legacy and next-generation applications
  • Shared media resources
  • Content delivery services
  • Adjunct Rating and support for multiple commerce methods-prepaid, post-paid, retail and wholesale

Ryland-Glynn noted, “CGI is enabling our clients to move boldly ahead in an IP centric world. We're excited about helping providers implement technologies that will not only achieve essential business results but move beyond that and deliver innovative customer-centric services.”
