CGI Group Inc. (TSX: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB), a leading provider of information technology and business process services, today announced the hiring of former Deputy Secretary, U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Roy A. Bernardi, as Vice-President, Consulting Services.
Prior to joining CGI, Roy Bernardi served as the Chief Operating Officer of HUD. Having served previously as Deputy Secretary, Bernardi was charged with managing HUD's day-to-day operations, a nearly $38 billion annual operating budget and the agency's 8500 employees. He also served as Acting Secretary of the agency and as HUD's Assistant Secretary of Community Planning and Development.

Prior to joining the federal government, Bernardi was the 51st Mayor of the City of Syracuse, New York. A promoter of urban neighborhoods, Mayor Bernardi worked to bring the number of violent crimes to their lowest levels in the 1990s. He also launched a nationally-recognized slum landlord program that used aggressive code enforcement to target chronic offenders and implemented a first-of-its kind landlord training and assistance program to clean-up neighborhood eyesores.
At CGI, Bernardi will use his broad range of experience across multiple levels of government to help both public and private sector clients navigate the opportunities and challenges of today's economy. His in-depth knowledge and experience in the day-to-day workings of government will help our clients manage in today's challenging environment in the areas of public housing, grants management, and loan modification funding.
