Halifax, Nova Scotia, January 3, 2007

CGI Group Inc. (CGI) (TSX: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB) has attained CMMI Level 3 as defined by the Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI) at its Atlantic Global Delivery Center (AGDC) in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. This was achieved 9 months after the center's ISO 9001:2000 certification and within two and a half years of the establishment of the AGDC. This is the latest quality initiative underway at the AGDC which provides application development and maintenance services to clients across North America.

Recognized worldwide, CMMI maturity levels are increasingly used by organizations to build effective software application development processes. CMMI defines an improvement path to a more mature and disciplined process. The benefits that can be achieved include improved productivity, reduced defects, improved reporting and greater timeliness. Improvements to the quality of software results in decreased cost and better quality service delivery.

CMMI is a globally-endorsed approach that gives organizations the essential elements to guide process improvements across a project, a division, or an entire organization. CMMI helps integrate separate organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and provide a point of reference for appraising current processes.

"The achievement of this level of CMMI sets the stage for the continued growth of the AGDC," says Cecil Smith, Senior Vice-President of CGI's Atlantic Business Unit. "This is an important accomplishment to ensure global competitiveness and to deliver measurable business benefits to our clients."

"I am extremely proud of our team who pushed to achieve this milestone in less than 9 months, well below the industry standard of at least 24 months," added Alaisdar Graham, Vice-President responsible for CGI's AGDC. "Plans are underway to pursue additional quality and innovation initiatives at the AGDC."

CGI's global delivery strategy is to provide the best blend of expertise and value to fulfill the needs of its global clients from onshore, nearshore and offshore delivery centres.
