Montreal, Quebec, September 13, 2000

CGI Group Inc. (TSE: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB), today announced an adjustment to its organizational structure, whereby the senior executives managing each of the Company's three strategic business units, namely Canada, United States and International, will report directly to the chief executive officer. The three executives appointed as leaders of the strategic business units (SBUs) are Michael Roach, who becomes executive vice-president and general manager, Canada; François Chassé, executive vice-president and general manager, USA and M&A (mergers and acquisitions); and Luc Pinard, now executive vice-president and general manager, International.

Including these three senior executives, CGI's senior management team, reporting directly to the chief executive officer, is comprised of seven experienced executives, with many years of industry experience and a well-established track record within CGI. Together, this team manages CGI's overall activities, in areas such as corporate planning and development, operational management, large IT contracts and mergers and acquisitions.

This organizational adjustment stems from today's announcement that Jean Brassard, president and chief operating officer of CGI, is taking retirement, effective immediately. Mr. Brassard will remain a director of the Company.

"This organizational adjustment results from a careful succession planning process led by president and COO Jean Brassard," said Serge Godin, CGI's chairman and CEO. "This adjustment provides CGI with the assurance of operational continuity, as the candidates were carefully selected in preparation for today's appointment. Each of these executives has excellent credentials, a successful track record, and a commitment to achieving strong growth."

"This development also fits with CGI's renewed focus on signing local IT contracts and acquisitions, in addition to large contracts and acquisitions," Mr. Godin added. "All three executives have full accountability for these units and are committed to delivering on their business plans."

"Jean Brassard has been a personal friend and colleague for 30 years and one of the chief architects of CGI's success over the past 22 years," Mr. Godin said. "In addition to being a CGI pioneer, Jean is one of the best leaders I have ever known. He has attracted and developed a strong team of senior executives and as a result, the Company is well positioned for continuing success, with significant depth and breadth of management. Jean will continue to share his knowledge and business judgment as a director. On behalf of all CGI members, I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude for his major contribution to this company."

Jean Brassard added: "While my work and relationships at CGI have been tremendously satisfying, I have made the decision to spend more time with my family and on personal endeavours while still continuing in an advisory role as a director of CGI. I believe the decentralization of operational responsibility into the three business units is an excellent move, given the different strategic emphasis in each regional market, and the timing of my retirement is therefore opportune."

CGI's new organization

CGI's management team has extensive knowledge of the North American and international IT services industry, as well as its specific geographic markets. Several of the Company's senior executives have been actively involved in the IT industry, or in some of its key vertical sectors, for 25 years and more. Also, some CGI executives have been with the Company for 20 years and more.

Michael Roach joined the Company in 1998, following CGI's acquisition of Bell Sygma Inc. where he held the position of president and chief executive officer. He joined CGI as executive vice-president and general manager of Telecommunications Information Systems and Services where his mandate was to focus on developing and delivering IS/IT solutions to the BCE Group. He was appointed executive vice-president & general manager, Ontario, Atlantic and Western Canada earlier this year.

François Chassé joined the Company in 1982 and has held a number of senior positions, gaining first hand knowledge of most of CGI's business units. He headed the U.S. division in 1992, and was appointed executive vice-president & general manager, USA and Quebec, earlier this year.

Luc Pinard joined CGI in 1978 and has successfully managed several multimillion dollar systems development and integration projects and conducted a number of strategic information planning and feasibility studies in the financial services sector. He was appointed executive vice-president, International, earlier this year.
