Fairfax, Virginia, July 26, 2011

CGI Federal (CGI), a wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB; TSX: GIB.A), today announced its participation in the development of a U.S. cloud computing roadmap which lays out a path for moving the U.S. government to the cloud. The roadmap was released today by the TechAmerica Foundation’s Commission on the Leadership Opportunity in U.S. Deployment of the Cloud (CLOUD2).

“The mandate to move to the cloud is clear,” said Gregg Mossburg, CGI Senior Vice-President and CLOUD2 Commissioner. “The critical step, however, is moving from policy into practice. For the past three months, the commissioners have worked to develop pragmatic recommendations and resources, including a Buyer’s Guide, to help agencies adopt cloud technology. The guide outlines practical steps for transitioning to the cloud so agencies can more easily develop their implementation plans and focus on gaining value, including savings, security, and scalability.”

The CLOUD2 report provides recommendations to The White House and key federal agencies on how they, in cooperation with industry, academia, and other nations, can adopt policies that will foster development, growth and effective deployment of the cloud, making government work better, smarter, and more cost effectively. The recommendations are focused on four areas: Trust, Transparency, Transformation, and Transnational Data Flows.

“Cloud computing is the latest example of how American innovation sets the pace for the world. This report examines the steps that the US government must take as a buyer and as a policymaker to ensure that we keep setting the pace,” said Phil Bond, President and CEO of TechAmerica and member of the TechAmerica Foundation board.
