Sean Hughes is the Vice President of Design at CGI Federal, leading solution design efforts across the organization. With a career spanning over 25 years across three continents and multiple business categories, Sean has built and led multidisciplinary, award-winning design teams that deliver business results while maximizing the role of design as a key element of sustainable competitive advantage.
At CGI, Sean drives user experience innovation and leverages Human-Centered Design (HCD) methods to deliver transformative digital solutions for government agencies. His work focuses on creating user-friendly, efficient, and intuitive digital services that meet the evolving needs of both citizens and employees.
Before joining CGI, Sean held leadership roles at Philips, where he led the global Design Consulting practice. His team developed a broad range of solutions for healthcare providers, merging products, software, digital services, and architectural concepts to shape the future of healthcare delivery. Sean's design thinking expertise and ability to engage directly with healthcare organizations have been instrumental in transforming care provision in meaningful ways.
Sean holds a Master's degree in Industrial Design from the Royal College of Art and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design/Engineering from the University of Teesside in the United Kingdom
