The energy was electric in Huntsville’s Von Braun Center on the night of March 28, as the Huntsville Havoc, the hometown heroes of the Southern Professional Hockey League, played a truly unforgettable regular-season finale against the Birmingham Bulls.
CGI has a longstanding partnership with the team that is about more than hockey. Through our support of the Havoc, and the Rocket City Trash Pandas AA baseball team, we celebrate our deep roots in Huntsville and support of the community.
The highlight of the evening was the much-anticipated Military Appreciation Night. According to Nolan Kaiser, the Havoc’s Vice President of Corporate Partnerships, CGI’s sponsorship enabled the team to donate 100% of the proceeds from specialty jerseys, totaling $75,580, to Still Serving Veterans, a nonprofit organization that helps veterans transition into civilian life. This record-breaking total marked the highest donation ever raised from the annual event.
CGI’s support went even further, fueling the excitement by helping Still Serving Veterans to distribute 2,000 complimentary tickets to military families and supporters. The stands were packed, the atmosphere was electric, and the sense of community pride was palpable throughout the arena.
Our sponsorship also covered the Hero of the Game recognition, highlighting Mark LaFlamme for more than 40 years of military and civilian service in combat development, acquisition and missile modernization. Mark’s achievements have left a lasting impact on U.S. and allied defense capabilities, and it was a true honor to celebrate his story with the entire Huntsville community.
