Steven Sousa serves as CGI Federal’s Social Security Administration sector lead. In this role, he supports SSA’s mission by guiding technology modernization efforts that improve service delivery, strengthen program integrity and enhance the experience for beneficiaries and agency personnel. He works closely with SSA leadership to advance solutions that streamline operations, improve data quality and apply emerging technologies that help the agency meet its evolving needs.

Mr. Sousa has more than two decades of experience supporting federal health and social services clients. His work has included major initiatives across agencies such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Indian Health Service and the Defense Health Agency. His background spans regulatory compliance, healthcare policy, IT development, strategic planning and program execution, anchoring his approach to serving mission-critical federal programs.

Throughout his career at CGI, Mr. Sousa has focused on mission outcomes, user-centered design and modernization strategies that help agencies reduce complexity and improve customer experience. He collaborates with cross-sector partners to introduce best practices from healthcare, human services and enterprise technology into federal environments. He also engages with industry and academic organizations to advance innovation and support communities served by federal programs.

A recognized industry leader, Mr. Sousa was a Federal 100 Award recipient in 2020, a Pinnacle Award finalist in 2020, 2023 and 2024, and was named by WashingtonExec as one of the top health care execs to watch from 2021 to 2026. 

Mr. Sousa holds a Master of Science in healthcare and technology from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University.
