As Vice-President of Market Strategy for CGI’s global payment solutions, Sean Devaney brings more than 25 years of experience in payments, regulatory change, managed services, and financial market infrastructure. He is also a member of the European Banking Authority’s Open Finance Working Group and techUK’s Digital Assets Working Group.
Throughout his career, Sean has helped shape major payments initiatives, including the UK’s Faster Payments Service, the Current Account Switch Service, and Open Banking overlay services. He also led CGI’s technical architecture design for Nexus, a global cross-border real-time payments initiative.
Sean is responsible for the market strategy for CGI’s payments portfolio, ensuring product direction aligns with the evolving operational, regulatory, and risk priorities of financial institutions. He also provides strategic insight into emerging payments and banking trends, including digital currencies, account-to-account payments, and the growing fragmentation of the payments ecosystem.
