CGI is proud to be the headline sponsor for The Southern Knights for their domestic and cross-border FOSROC Super6 2019/20 season.
The Southern Knights, a semi-professional team playing in Scottish Rugby’s newly formed top-tier domestic competition, kicked-off the season in their new CGI branded kits on Saturday 9 November 2019 at the recently opened 3G Greenyards pitch, in Melrose.
The sponsorship will allow CGI not only to connect with the players but also to promote fitness, wellbeing and career opportunities within the immediate local community and across the Scottish Borders. This includes running fitness camps for both CGI members and local schools to encourage physical activity for a balanced lifestyle.
CGI already works closely with schools in the Scottish Borders, where we are rolling out 9,000 iPads to pupils and teachers to promote the advancement of digital skills for a better future and Scottish economy.“This approach makes CGI the ideal headline sponsor for our inaugural semi-professional team”, said Rob Chrystie, Head Coach at the Southern Knights. “We are so closely aligned on our core values and our commitment to developing talent and providing opportunities for growth. We’ve been training hard for the FOSROC Super6 competition. The squad is physically strong, and they have a great attitude, a tremendous team spirit and a real desire to help one another be the very best they can be. We can’t wait to get started on Saturday. We look forward to the competition with CGI in our corner.”
Jill MacDonald, who works for CGI in the Scottish Borders, attended the first game of the season. She has supported rugby in Melrose for many years and often helps out at the games. “The Southern Knights are my local team and I am really excited that CGI is the main sponsor. It was great to see the CGI name all around the ground and on the team kit. It was a fantastic opportunity to talk to about the company, and let people know who CGI is and what we do. I am really excited at the positive impact this will have in the local community, and I am looking forward to supporting The Southern Knights in the season ahead.”
Scottish Vice President Lindsay McGranaghan commented on the sponsorship, “CGI is delighted to sponsor the Southern Knights this season and we wish the team the very best of luck for the coming campaign in what promises to be a very exciting time for the club. In addition to the sponsorship of professional sport, we are also committed to encouraging grass roots sport in the communities in which we work and we sponsor over 200 kits for community teams across the UK.”
We are proud that CGI is built on local knowledge and local relationships - and with one of our offices in the Scottish Borders we recognise talent and provide the right environment and opportunities for our people to grow and learn.
