In this video, we walk through CGI’s Greenfield Site in North Yorkshire, where we’re taking action to protect and restore native meadows and woodlands as part of our commitment to sustainability and biodiversity.
Covering nearly 50 hectares of land, including a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), this project focuses on conserving one of the UK’s rarest and most species-rich habitats - upland hay meadows.
Through expert guidance and collaboration with local partners, we explore the history and ecological importance of the land, learning how careful stewardship can help protect its delicate ecosystems. The video highlights the challenges facing meadow conservation and celebrates the unique opportunity to expand and enhance biodiversity in the Yorkshire Dales.
CGI’s vision goes beyond preservation, we’re exploring ways to enhance the landscape further, such as introducing beehives, improving existing structures like barns for educational and community use, and supporting ongoing habitat and river quality assessments. By partnering with local experts and conservationists, CGI aims to ensure that this special area continues to thrive for generations to come.
