London, United Kingdom, 23 November 2020

CGI today announced a partnership with Newcastle-based text analysis and insight platform provider, Wordnerds. The relationship will see the company combine its multi-industry and advisory expertise with Wordnerds’ unique software platform to create a new offering – CGI Text Analytics Services (TAS) - which delivers meaningful data insights to its clients.

The partnership comes as a result of CGI’s drive to extend its ecosystem of regional Emerging Technologies partners to accelerate the Digital Transformation of key sectors across the North of England. The TechMarketView Innovation Partner Programme, sponsored by CGI earlier this year, aimed to attract Northern-headquartered SME tech organisations with innovative emerging technology capabilities such as artificial intelligence (AI).

CGI’s TAS is a holistic, one-stop-shop advisory solution for organisations who want better insight into market and customer sentiment about their brands. It will help clients leverage the potential of AI to inform their customer experience, innovation, communications and service delivery strategies.

Wordnerds’ cutting-edge text analysis and insight platform takes a linguistics-first approach to the latest AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, producing a SaaS platform that genuinely understands language, including misspellings, sarcasm and colloquialisms. The new offering will enable companies to discover the stories behind the data, gaining an objective measure of customer experience, competitor insight and real-time text analysis for better strategic decision making.

Using the platform, Wordnerds’ client the Department for Work and Pension (DWP) was able to collect evidence to support a hypothesis that many applicants were finding the DWP’s telephone-based application process stressful and inconvenient. Examining data from conversations on Twitter, key themes were identified, confirming the client’s suspicion about the telephone applications process. This important insight allowed the DWP to address many of their customers’ concerns around ease of access and to secure investment for a new digital application service. Within the first three months of the new digital service launch, the service moved from 100% telephony to 80% digital. The client also moved rapidly to interpret conversations on Twitter for a real-time pulse of emerging situations, in order to prioritise service changes quickly.

Paul Buxton, Senior Vice President for the North of England and Utilities at CGI in the UK, said: “We are delighted to be able to partner with Wordnerds. Not only is their software integral to our new advisory offering, but their location in the North of England helps us to continue our growth in the region. They proved themselves to have an incredible award-winning product and we look forward to working with them closely.”

Pete Daykin, CEO and Co-founder at Wordnerds said: “CGI has a wealth of knowledge and experience in multiple industries and technologies, which will enable us to bring our expertise to market in an effective and highly bespoke way. We are seeing an increasing demand for our services in the market, as organisations recognise the importance of their customers’ voice in achieving business success. Working with CGI will help us meet these demands. ”

The partnership, which will be ongoing, aligns strongly with CGI’s focus on providing strategic insights to create impact across key industry sectors countrywide.
