Edenred PayTech, part of the Edenred Group, is working with CGI and OpenAI to evaluate how AI can help its teams spend less time on testing, documentation and backlog triage.

The eight-week Proof of Value is an early client engagement through CGI’s partnership with OpenAI, bringing the three organisations together to address Edenred’s business priorities.

The three-way collaboration between Edenred, CGI and OpenAI will help Edenred explore how Codex can support its teams in real work. The pilot will build practical evidence on adoption, value and governance to inform decisions about future use.

Combining expertise to deliver value

The engagement follows joint discovery with Edenred’s Technology, Operations and Cyber teams to identify practical challenges and workflows for evaluation. It also aligns with Edenred Group’s wider AI strategy: to empower employees to do more, improve operational efficiency and accelerate AI adoption across the business. Edenred sets the business priorities, contributes process knowledge, involves its teams and makes decisions about adoption. OpenAI provides AI capabilities, product insight and partner support. CGI helps shape and deliver the work, bringing engineering, payments, architecture and cyber security expertise. It supports users and evaluates the findings.

Russell Goodenough, Head of AI at CGI in the UK and Australia, says: "We’re pleased to put our partnership with OpenAI into practice with Edenred. This is the power of three in action: Edenred brings the business priorities, OpenAI brings the AI capabilities, and CGI brings the expertise to apply them. Our shared ambition is to help Edenred’s teams spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time innovating and supporting clients. This engagement will help Edenred build the evidence it needs to identify where AI can deliver real value and decide what to do next.”

Mike Field, Head of AI at Edenred PayTech, says: “We see real potential for AI to transform how our teams operate, and collaborating with CGI and OpenAI gives us access to the expertise and technology to turn that ambition into practical solutions. This engagement will help us identify where AI can deliver the greatest value for our teams and our clients and guide our future investment decisions.”

Philip Larson, Senior Director, OpenAI Partner Network stated: “We’re pleased to work with CGI and Edenred PayTech to explore how Codex can help teams reduce repetitive work and focus on the challenges that need their expertise. By evaluating Codex in real workflows, this engagement will build evidence of where AI can add value and what effective adoption requires. That practical understanding, alongside human judgement and governance, will help Edenred make informed decisions about future use."

Measuring the potential impact

The evaluation will consider the total effort required to complete tasks, including checking AI outputs and carrying out any necessary rework. User feedback will help the teams assess whether the tools are useful in day-to-day work and identify where human judgement remains essential.

The findings will help Edenred identify opportunities to scale AI adoption and prioritise future investment based on demonstrated value.
