CGI were highly commended at the 2022 Business Green Leaders Awards for the Nature-Based Project of the Year category, CGI and Project Seagrass  – GeoData360 Earth Observation project.

CGI and Project Seagrass joined forces to support the conservation of seagrass ecosystems through utilising our GeoData360 Earth Observation Platform to leverage data from the European Space Agency’s Copernicus Satellite Earth Observation Missions. Through this platform we are able to identify seagrass meadows from space to help gather insight into how we can help preserve and restore this valuable carbon sink resource and increase CO2 consumption by improving the health and volume of the UK’s coastal seagrass meadows.

Project Seagrass is a key part of our No Planet B initiative and our global net-zero commitments. Protecting and conserving seagrass ecosystems are critical to mitigate the impacts of climate change. At CGI, we continuously seek ways to use our IT and business consulting expertise to reinforce our net-zero commitment and contribute to environmental sustainability.
