CGI members in India celebrated International Women’s Day in a different way this year—engaging in CSR activities that benefitted their local communities. These initiatives were led by Women. Who. Win. (W3), CGI’s community of women members in India.

In Bangalore, W3 collaborated with ActionAid India, an anti-poverty agency, to set up a “wish tree”’ within CGI offices. The wishes of 800 underprivileged children were attached to this tree, and members picked up wish cards to fulfil them. From text books to cycles for school, CGI members made dreams come true.

Elsewhere, volunteers in Bangalore visited a home for the low-income elderly, managed by the Little Sisters of the Poor. They arranged for snacks and entertainment for 80 women residents who lived there.

In Chennai, education took center stage, with 50 volunteers visiting a local government school—organizing games and distributing gifts among the students. The event proved to be a hit and the principal invited the team to return once every quarter.

Hyderabad was abuzz with a CGI carnival, where women entrepreneurs were invited to sell their products on CGI premises. A percentage of the proceeds were donated to other CGI CSR initiatives.

In Mumbai, volunteers turned the spotlight on healthcare, conducting a free medical camp in a low-income area. Residents were offered doctor consultations during and after the camp, health check-ups and medicine. The team also raised awareness about tuberculosis and swine flu among participants. With 1,000 awareness pamphlets distributed prior to the event and 267 consultations in just four hours, the camp proved to be a huge success—echoing the impact of other CSR initiatives across our locations.

CGI’s global delivery center in India spans seven offices in four cities and has more than 10,000 professionals. For over two decades, experts based in these locations have provided offshore support to more than 200 clients across the globe.
