Finnish electricity distribution service company Elenia has chosen CGI to provide a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. This solution will help Elenia manage its network contracts more effectively and halve the carbon footprint of its systems. It will also improve collaboration with subcontractors.

“Elenia has recently made considerable investments in a weatherproof electricity network. The system provided by CGI will not only cover our general ERP needs, but will also help us manage and coordinate the construction of our electricity and fiber network and facilitate our fixed asset accounting. The system will support cooperation with our partners and enable us to manage our partner network. Thanks to this, we’ll always have up-to-date information about the status of our contracts. Automated accounting and subcontractor reporting will boost efficiency and create opportunities for developing new operating models, as they will significantly reduce the amount of manual work required,” says Elenia’s CIO, Jenni Heinisuo.

Elenia chose Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations to replace its former ERP. We provided a cloud-based SaaS (Software as a Service) solution that will cover the entire ERP and financial management system, including the purchase invoice recycling system. In addition to financial benefits, the solution will also help Elenia contribute to the fight against climate change using modern technologies.

“Companies can reduce their carbon footprint by up to 90% simply by moving from their own physical server to cloud services. Even switching from your virtual server, as Elenia has, will lower your carbon footprint by about 50%,” says Riku Rokala, Vice-President, Head of Business Development, Energy & Communications for CGI’s operations in Finland.

Elenia and CGI have signed a 10-year agreement with a total value of about EUR 4 million. Previously, we provided similar solutions to companies such as Tampereen Sähkölaitos, Turku Energia and Lappeenranta Energia.
