CGI will build upon its existing Spectrum Portal capability that has been in service for the last five years and integrate commercial off the shelf Spectrum Management applications from LS telcom. These applications are in use in over 100 countries around the world, including the UK Spectrum Regulator, Ofcom.
CGI will provide system integration expertise and support to the application and its secure IT infrastructure. This capability will provide the MOD with a step change in integrated spectrum management capability, allowing Spectrum Managers to allocate and assign spectrum more effectively. This enhanced management information capability will support decision-making processes as the MOD comes under greater pressure from Government to release and share electromagnetic spectrum holdings.
MOD’s Tess Mulhall, Head of Spectrum, said: “The award of this spectrum management contract extends our close working relationship with CGI. This will expand our vital service which provides Defence with greater understanding of our spectrum usage, allowing us to better support the UK Government’s Spectrum Strategy and Defence operational capability”.
CGI’s Steve Smart, Senior Vice President, Space, Defence, National and Cyber Security, in the UK commented: “This is an important project to CGI, building upon our 14 year relationship with the Defence Spectrum Team. Our deep domain knowledge and technical expertise will help the UK MOD enhance its Spectrum Management capabilities. We look forward to continuing our close working relationship with the MOD and delivering first class integration services and support”.
CGI has worked with the MOD for 40 years and has built a reputation for delivering secure end‑to‑end information solutions. CGI provides Defence advice, software solutions, systems integration, secure hosting services and training across the MOD including business, logistics and management information to frontline operations.
