From 30-year-old on-prem systems to a scalable cloud platform, Skipton has tackled legacy migration head-on—modernising security, operations and the member experience using modern software engineering practices.

This session, delivered by Duncan Ratcliffe, Head of IT at Skipton and Michael Winter, Vice President Consulting Expert at CGI, tells the story of our partnership and the technology journey so far. From decomposing a monolithic legacy system into cloud-native services to replacing batch-heavy processes with responsive, event-driven operations.

Alongside this technical transformation, Skipton has focused on evolving team culture through agile delivery, comprehensive retraining and refined governance models—ensuring the colleague experience improves in step with outcomes for members.
