How CGI UK’s alliances with Cambridge Wireless and the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group are building a safer digital future
Cyber resilience is now central to the UK’s national security, economic prosperity, and citizen trust. The National Cyber Strategy 2022 outlines the UK’s ambition to be a global cyber power, while forthcoming legislation such as the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill will impose new obligations on digital service providers, government agencies, and telecoms operators.
At CGI, we believe that resilience must be engineered, adaptive, and collaborative. Our approach is built on two pillars, secure by design and adaptive risk management, and is strengthened by strategic collaborations with Cambridge Wireless (CW) and the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group (NCRCG). Together, we are leading the way in shaping a safer digital future for the UK.
Context and drivers
- The National Cyber Strategy 2022 sets out a whole-of-society approach to building cyber resilience1
- The Cyber Security and Resilience Bill will raise resilience standards across government, telecoms, and digital service providers2
- The Telecommunications (Security) Act 2021 places legally binding obligations on telecoms providers to identify and mitigate security compromises, with Ofcom empowered to levy fines of up to 10% of annual turnover 3,4
- In Europe, the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) came into force in January 2025, establishing a new resilience benchmark for IT risk management5
These drivers make it clear that resilience is no longer optional; it is a strategic and regulatory necessity.
CGI's UK cyber security services
CGI is a trusted partner to public and commercial sector organisations. Our end-to-end cyber services are designed to align with emerging legislation and evolving threat landscapes, safeguard critical systems and build resilience, while maintaining trust with stakeholders. From strategy and advisory services to hands-on operational defence, we deliver tailored, scalable solutions across industries which enable:
Secure by design
We embed security at the design stage of every project, ensuring resilience is integral, not bolted on. This includes zero-trust architecture, encrypted data flows, and secure identity management.
Adaptive risk management
We help clients move beyond static compliance with continuous monitoring, scenario planning, and threat-led penetration testing, supporting proactive resilience in line with UK and EU regulatory expectations.
Securing 5G telecoms infrastructure
CGI supported a major UK telecoms provider with the secure deployment of 5G network functions. By applying threat-led risk modelling, we embedded resilience into virtualised core infrastructure, helping the client meet Telecommunications (Security) Act obligations ahead of schedule, while building customer trust in next-generation networks.
Modernising government services with secure identity
Working with government clients, CGI modernised digital identity and case management systems. Embedding zero-trust principles from design stage ensured sensitive case data remained secure across agencies, while aligning with the UK’s vision for secure, user-centric public services.
Strengthening cyber awareness and resilience with NCRCG
Through our engagement with the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group as a Founding National Ambassador, CGI has lent its ongoing expertise and guidance to help bolster the cyber resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises across the UK. This has included through our contribution to NCRCG’s CyberVersed podcast which helps to raise awareness of what it means to be cyber resilient and reaching audiences in multiple countries and every continent.
Alliance ecosystem
Cambridge Wireless (CW): Innovation with resilience
CW provides a forum where academia, industry, and government shape the future of connectivity. CGI actively participates in forums such as the Security, Privacy, Identity & Trust (SPIT) Special Interest Group, ensuring our services reflect the latest thinking in technology innovation, AI, and cyber resilience.
National Cyber Resilience Centre Group (NCRCG): Resilience for all
The NCRCG drives resilience nationwide through Regional Cyber Resilience Centres, supporting SMEs, local authorities, and supply chains. As a founding National Ambassador, CGI’s collaboration with NCRCG helps extend resilience beyond large-scale enterprises, ensuring systemic resilience across the UK economy.
Participation in collaborative networks such as CW and NCRCG is not a ‘nice-to-have’, it is a strategic enabler:
- Stay ahead of new regulation (Cyber Security and Resilience Bill)
- Securely accelerate innovation in 5G, AI, and connected services
- Extend resilience to SMEs and local authorities through NCRCG
- Enhance public trust in digital services by embedding resilience from design stage
As cyber threats become more complex and regulation more stringent, the UK must lead with innovation and resilience in equal measures.
We are proud to lead this effort, embedding secure by design principles and adaptive risk management across critical services. Through strategic collaboration with Cambridge Wireless and the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group, we ensure resilience is not siloed but systemic.
Together, we are building a safer digital future, keeping citizens secure, services trusted, and innovation resilient.
