3. What does your role involve? |
Preparing and executing test scripts and recording the outcomes. Also raising defects and the retesting of defects upon receipt of fixes. |
4. What does a typical day in your role look like? |
Each day I have an allocation of test scripts to execute for a particular set of devices. Alongside execution I follow the progression of existing defects until they are ready to be retested to confirm the fix has worked. |
5. What is the most interesting part of your role? |
Interacting with a variety of project shareholders for both test execution and defect investigation. |
6. What projects are you working on at the moment and what impact will they have? |
I am part of the Smart Metering program project, which aims to rollout smart meters out across the UK to improve the efficiency of our energy usage. Here at CGI we test the functionality before installation. |
7. What are you most excited about in relation to your role and future tech developments right now? |
There are smart meters that we test being installed every day, which is exciting to see how our work has a real-life impact. Automation of testing is an exciting development. |
8. How do you feel CGI has impacted your career to date? |
Since leaving university, I have gained more technical skills through internal training courses and learning on the job. Also my confidence has improved whilst working as a team to achieve successful testing phases. |
9. What is your favourite thing about working for GGI? |
There is a great culture here at CGI with plenty of things to get involved with outside of work. Personally I enjoy playing 7-aside football every week, but there are lots of activities on offer when you get involved with the Sports and Social Club. |
10. Have you benefited from any training and development at CGI – If so what did you learn and how has it benefited you both professionally and personally? |
The training I have undertaken since joining has been very helpful introducing me to both the program and the testing process. There are numerous qualifications and learning resources on the CGI MyLearning page. |
11. Tell us why someone should consider a career at CGI |
CGI is a great company to work for as they are involved in many interesting projects. Another reason is that the company benefits are incredible, and CGI really look after their people. They also offer great opportunities to learn new skills, and work in variety of roles/areas. |
