As part of CGI’s commitment to supporting the UK Government’s Devolution agenda, we were honoured to welcome Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region to our UK & Australia leadership meeting in Liverpool this week.

Steve shared his ambitions for a region which was recently shortlisted for European Capital of Innovation 2026. He highlighted his recent appointment of the UK’s first regional Chief AI Officer, which is a clear signal of the pivotal role AI will play in the future of this vibrant, progressive city region. Steve also emphasised the importance of investment in talent and skills, and the region’s focus on life sciences, education, transport, and health and social care; all underpinned by AI and data.

"CGI came to Liverpool in 2019 and since then have taken every opportunity to become part of our community and part of our journey. Like us, CGI want to make a long-term difference to people’s lives in the Liverpool City Region. I’m excited about the very real opportunities for us to collaborate even more on attracting further investment into the region, delivering digital transformation across public services, and supporting the future workforce." said Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region

Liverpool is a strategically important region for CGI, and our metro model - working side by side with local authorities - enables close collaboration with local leaders. This ensures we understand regional priorities and can deliver tailored, long-term impact in the communities where we live and work.

This approach is central to supporting Mayor Rotheram’s ambitions for inclusive growth, accelerating innovation, strengthening public services, and creating sustainable economic opportunities for all citizens.

As a key foreign direct investor across the UK, CGI remains committed to being a long-term partner in delivering the mayor’s bold vision for the Liverpool City Region.
