CGI selected to deliver electronic vote counting for London’s 2028 Mayor and Assembly Elections

CGI is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the Greater London Authority (GLA) to implement an electronic vote counting system for the 2028 London Mayor and London Assembly elections.

The system will enable the electronic counting of ballot papers and support the declaration of results across all contests in the 2028 London elections, including the election of the Mayor of London and members of the London Assembly. This will ensure swift, accurate and secure vote counting, which is fundamental to the election’s success.

The agreement builds on CGI’s previous work with the GLA, including support for the London Mayor and London Assembly elections held in 2021, where CGI helped process approximately 7.9 million ballot papers across three count centers over two days.

CGI will provide the electronic counting system, ballot papers, scanners, display equipment, and related technical services alongside the digital system for recording election configuration information from each of London's boroughs. Training, testing and count-centre support required for election teams will also be managed by CGI.
