Industrial placements

It really is our members that will make a difference and help us to be a world class information technology and business process services leader. Our students play a big part in the solutions that we deliver to our clients and have worked on some of the company’s biggest projects. A year’s Industrial Placement with CGI will help put your theoretical knowledge in to practice, will set you apart from you fellow students in your final year and could mean you leave us with a graduate offer for the following year.
Technical placements
We also recruit technical placement students into various base locations across the UK with our main hubs being; Bridgend, Glasgow, Reading and Leatherhead. There may also be some opportunities in locations such as Birmingham.
As CGI is a consultancy, your projects could be based from a client site or at other CGI offices asides from your base location, or sometimes you may work every day from your base location. You should therefore be prepared for travel in your role. As part of the selection process, you will be asked to state your business unit and location preferences so we would encourage you to do your research about where you would like to go. Please note that different business units operate from different locations and so your first preference for business unit and location may not always be a match, so we would encourage you to think about how flexible you can be.
You will need to demonstrate a real interest and passion for Technology. Our Technical Placement Students will have studied for either a Computer Science related degree or will come from a STEM degree subject. Depending on which business unit you would like to join, we will consider students working towards a minimum 2:1.

Business placement students
CGI recruits business placement students mainly into our UK Alliances team. This role will be based in Reading or London. As CGI is a consultancy, your projects could be based from a client site or at other CGI offices, asides from your base location or sometimes you may work every day from your base location. You should therefore be prepared for travel in your role. We would encourage you to have a think about how flexible you can be.
Our alliance partners are important to CGI to support our existing clients and grow our new prospects. By aligning and agreeing a clear joint approach to clients, we can offer a collaborative solution to the client that builds on our partner’s technology and our skilled services. This approach can also assist our joint position against the competition and demonstrate our strong relationship with the key vendors. Our Alliance relationships are focused on supporting the CGI teams to drive sales results.
The Alliance Business Industrial Placement Student or Graduate will report to the Director of Alliances and work with a number of defined strategic alliance partners to support the UK Alliance team plans. The role will be key to the increase of our recognised resell and influence revenue through joint client engagement based on initiatives.
Our business placement students will have studied any degree discipline. If you come from a computer science or STEM background that would be an advantage. Applicants from other degree disciplines are very welcome will need to demonstrate their knowledge and interested in the world of Technology. Depending on which business unit you would like to join, we will consider students working towards a minimum 2:1.
