London, United Kingdom, 26 January 2016

CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) recently completed a major upgrade in the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of its Bridgend, Wales data centre. The project is key to maintaining the highest infrastructure standards on behalf of the company’s clients and to support a raft of new customers.

The enterprise data centre project is part of CGI’s global strategy to reduce its carbon footprint, lower operating costs, and mitigate risk through the implementation of leading technologies, processes and standards. The upgrades to the data centre deliver dual hosting capabilities and improved the Power Usage Effectiveness from 1.64 to 1.21, indicating substantial reductions in energy consumption. Carbon emissions have also been lowered, and the data centre meets the Green Grid Data Centre efficiency standards.

David Fitzpatrick, Senior Vice-President of Global Infrastructure Services at CGI commentated: “The enterprise data centre project has been an outstanding achievement for all our members on the team. The new facility will allow us to reduce operating and service costs whilst ensuring our infrastructure continues to develop to support our growing number of customers that choose to host data and applications with us in the UK.”

The data centres are at the heart of CGI’s operations and have been made more resilient and have been future-proofed to meet the growing needs of CGI’s customers. The company has seen a significant increase in new business in the UK over the last two years, with recent contract wins including providing the Ministry of Defence’s Medical Services with integrating electronic health records; building and operating a central market system for Market Operator Services Limited (MOSL) to support the competitive water market; and providing support to the Scottish Local Government for election. Throughout the upgrade, CGI maintained service to all its clients without any interruption.
