MS AwardsMicrosoft recently announced the winners of it’s highly prestigious Microsoft Partner Awards for 2014. Over 3200 entries across 112 countries were entered, and CGI UK came out on top in the Intelligent Systems Partner category.

CGI and Microsoft are at the forefront of transforming the Internet of Things (IoT) into real platforms and services that will transform businesses from sectors as diverse as transport and aviation through to retail and telecommunications.

As Microsoft’s award winning partner, CGI combined its integration and domain knowledge in conjunction with Microsoft’s cloud based Intelligent System Service (ISS) to provide the first customer implementation of this technology which has the potential to transform the traditional approach to device and asset connectivity and make a vast number of connected technology applications a reality.

Microsoft announced the winners recently, writing: “These partners and their award nominations were truly exceptional. Their accomplishments should be viewed as examples of excellence for every Microsoft partner”.

CGI IT UK Limited was announced winner of the Intelligent Systems Partner of the Year Award. CGI worked with Telent, a leading provider of maintenance services to the rail industry to enable their client, which serves more than one billion passengers each year, realize the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT). Their success came with modernizing the systems that monitor critical assets and systems. The resulting secure, real-time solution has the capability to scale to thousands of devices and sensors. Meaningful data from sensors and intelligent edge devices – on everything from temperature, vibration and humidity, to fault warnings and system alerts – are all available securely in the cloud. This resulted in the ability to reduce service delays by proactively responding to real-time data, integrate disparate systems to automate processes quickly and affordably, and improve strategic decisions with new insights into asset performance.

Each nomination was judged blindly three times from a panel of over 600 Microsoft subject matter experts.
