IT and cloud environments of companies and public organizations are increasingly extensive and complex. So how to ensure their management, protection and development as entities when systems and services are in multiple locations and on several platforms?

A hybrid environment is a service package that works at the device, system and application level in different locations and with various platforms.

In a hybrid environment, some of the systems and applications used by an organization may be located in the public cloud, while some could be in supplier data centers in factories around the world, as an example. Such an environment is typically the result of longer-term development, as the organization's systems and services were developed to meet business needs.

The purpose of a hybrid environment is to provide a solution consisting of private and public cloud services and architecture that is used to manage both traditional IT systems and platforms and systems that utilize modern technologies.

The key to functional hybrid environments is the management of the entire solution

The challenge in hybrid environments is the management of the solution as a whole.

Systems and platforms that vary in terms of technology and usability can give grey hair to IT organizations’ managers, software developers, and those in charge of information security.

Good overall management of solutions and harmonized visibility built into the hybrid environment enable the following

  1. The organization that is responsible for monitoring is able to monitor the environment’s health and information security, manage costs and automate processes efficiently.

  2. Agile development and the harnessing of the benefits obtained primarily from the transparency of data and processes.

  3. Harmonization of various platforms, applications and information systems, which increases both agility and the ability to change, in addition to boosting security and efficiency. For instance, the deployment of a new service is easier when there is visibility that is consistent with other services and when it automatically complies with the organization's information management and security policies.

  4. Harmonized framework and open interfaces for developers, which make their work more efficient and allows easy communication between various systems and services.

If a hybrid environment is something that an organization inadvertently adopted in an uncontrolled manner, there may be areas for which responsibilities or actual costs are not known. An uncontrolled IT and cloud environment can be downright catastrophic in the event of a failure or security breach, for example. Without good visibility and understanding of what happened where at any given time, taking the necessary measures is time-consuming, expensive and difficult.

CGI Next Generation Cloud enables the cost-effective management of a hybrid environment

CGI Next Generation Cloud is the solution for the management of entities. NGC enables harmonized management of environments and visibility to services, regardless of whether the services are in the public cloud, CGI’s private cloud or the customer's own data center.

As CGI’s technology partner, Nutanix joins the journey towards a unified solution both from its own data center and from the customer's data centers. Nutanix enables the same platform solution to be also used in the public cloud.

Did you know that Nutanix Karbon can be used to create a modern Kubernetes container platform as a service? A unified platform technology solution enables the provision of the service in the same way regardless of location.

CGI’s NGC Virtual Desktop as a solution also provides your end users the freedom to work securely from anywhere, and on any device with a great user experience.
