CGI awarded Anchor Company status and training grant to further develop its highly skilled workforce

CGI (TSX: GIB.A) (NYSE: GIB) has been awarded Anchor Company status by the Welsh Government to recognise its importance to the Welsh economy. CGI is the largest IT employer in South Wales with over 900 highly skilled professional delivering a range of services to CGI’s clients including household brand names and the public sector. The Welsh Government’s Skills Growth Wales programme has also awarded CGI its largest ever training grant to assist in the continued development of CGI’s professionals to develop its world leading skilled workforce based in Wales.

Following a meeting with Michael Roach, President and CEO of CGI, in Canada yesterday, the Welsh Government's First Minister Carwyn Jones said: " CGI is not only an important employer in South Wales but also makes a significant contribution to the Welsh economy and the local community. I am delighted to recognize the contribution it makes to Wales and its on-going commitment to innovation and developing its workforce, creating an environment that is conducive for growth. The Welsh Government will to continue to work closely with CGI and our talks today centered on the company's future plans for Wales and how the Welsh Government could support the business."
