Shaping a Future in IT as a Program Assistant

Maham Taj’s journey at CGI Finland began quite recently, but her story shows how small steps, and the right mindset can lead to meaningful growth. She shares her early experiences, the joy of learning, and what makes CGI a truly special place to work.

Maham Taj joined CGI in February 2025, stepping into the role of Program Assistant. Already now, Maham has made a strong impact through her dedication, curiosity, and collaborative spirit.

In her role, Maham supports weekly time reporting and user access management. Her work requires a keen eye for detail, technical proficiency, and strong communication skills.

“Strong expertise in Excel and automation is essential for analyzing data and creating reports. Quick and clear communication also helps me respond to colleagues’ queries efficiently”, Maham marks out.

Maham uses tools like Jira, Confluence, Microsoft tools, and CGI’s internal platforms to manage daily tasks. Regular meetings with project leaders and stakeholders help her stay aligned with priorities and deadlines.

“Daily collaboration with colleagues is key. I enjoy listening to their needs and helping them – it’s the most fun part of my job”, she describes.

What Maham appreciates most about CGI is the supportive and inclusive work culture. She feels encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and grow professionally.

“I work with many talented and experienced professionals who are always willing to share their knowledge. Open communication makes it easier for new employees to adapt. I also value the strong work-life balance and the trust given to manage responsibilities independently”, she shares.

While working at CGI, Maham has gained valuable insights – not only technical skills but also soft skills that are crucial in a dynamic work environment.

“I’ve learned how to coordinate with different stakeholders and prioritize tasks effectively. Technical skills are important, but soft skills like collaboration and active listening are just as vital.”

Looking ahead, Maham is eager to continue developing her career in IT. She also plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Finland to take advantage of the country’s world-class education system.

“I want to keep building my technical skills and grow in the IT field. Studying further is part of that journey.”

A Glimpse into Taj's Daily Life

Maham starts her workday by creating a checklist of tasks to stay organized and focused. She also checks in with key stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment.

Outside of work, Maham enjoys spending time in nature and has recently taken up boxing as a fun way to stay active and challenge herself. She also seeks out short courses that help her apply new skills directly to his work.

At the end of the day, Maham updates her task list and wraps up communications – then looks forward to quality time with her family.

“After work, I really look forward to spending time with my family. It helps me recharge and stay balanced.”
