“CGI has been our trusted IT partner for a long time and contributed to the success of large business transactions, such as the Neles integration. With the latest agreements, we are expanding our cooperation. In addition to previous responsibilities, CGI will be responsible for our global hybrid solution, which serves as the cornerstone of the IT functions of our international business, and taking care of our ServiceNow development,” says Janne Puustinen, Valmet's Chief Information Officer.

Valmet is the leading global provider and developer of process technology, automation solutions and services for the pulp, paper and energy sectors. Services offered by CGI cover all of Valmet's more than 40 operating countries and more than 20,000 users.

“Valmet’s extensive business operations are supported by several different IT platforms that are now being transferred to a hybrid solution provided by CGI. This environment will utilise both public and private cloud components, and in the new architecture, factory-specific needs are also better taken into account. This is an important show of confidence in our global service capability in the industrial sector,” says Leena-Mari Lähteenmaa, President of CGI´s operations in Finland, Poland and Baltics.

The hybrid solution will improve Valmet’s cost efficiency and flexibility, and safeguard business continuity. Cloud solutions also enable more flexible energy consumption. The end users' service experience, on the other hand, is made smoother by making use of, among other things, advanced analytics and automation to a greater extent than before.

“Valmet's everyday life will be smoother in many ways. The more advanced utilization of cloud technologies enables the faster introduction of various applications and real-time transparency to the IT environments around the world. For example, the need for IT support professionals for physical transactions at factory locations is significantly reduced,” says Lähteenmaa.

“Through our long cooperation, we have built a strong trust in CGI's services. CGI is a flexible partner and very easy to work with,” says Puustinen.
