Melbourne, Australia, 15 December 2021

CGI(NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) is working with Microsoft  Defender for Internet of Things (IoT) in Australia. This will allow CGI to ensure its Australian utilities, manufacturing, government and financial services clients can adapt to the cybersecurity landscape and proactively repel the modern threat actor.

With an established presence in Australia, CGI provides high-quality operational technology (OT) delivered from five client proximity locations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart. By utilising the Azure Defender technology, CGI will deploy cloud-powered and adaptable cyber defences to protect businesses in the evolving cyber threat landscape. It will do this, in part, by strengthening the security posture of resources and protecting workloads running in cloud and on-premises platforms.

As a complementary service, and using Microsoft Defender for IoT, CGI will take a snapshot of a company’s OT environment’s current cybersecurity threat landscape. Using this data, it will lead a one-day workshop to provide feedback on CGI’s assessment and delve deeper into actionable insights and strategic options to strengthen the security landscape of their clients' organisations.

E-Yang Tang, Vice President of CGI Cybersecurity and Digital Services Australia, said: “OT clients are adopting the convergence of IT and OT approach like never before, and we’re thrilled to expand the security capabilities under the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider program to secure the convergence efforts. CGI is a proud member of Microsoft’s Partner Network and will continue to ensure businesses can be confident that cloud powered security will protect them.”

“In today’s environment of increasingly sophisticated cyber-attacks, our mutual clients rely on proactive solutions such as CGI’s managed security services to help protect their IT/OT assets — from desktops to OT devices,” said Mandana Javaheri, Senior Director SCI Business Development, at Microsoft. “We are pleased that CGI will continue to make its security expertise available to help our mutual customers improve the security of their systems.”

CGI is a Microsoft partner in global managed services, delivering a broad portfolio of Microsoft offerings that help clients drive innovation and business agility. This will see Microsoft Defender incorporated into CGI’s pre-existing consultancy services to ensure Australia’s businesses remain one step ahead of developing cyber threats.
