The dress rehearsal exercise of Fingrid Datahub, a centralized information exchange system for the electricity retail market, ended successfully in December 2021. The exercise, performed in close cooperation with industry participants, demonstrated the industry and Datahub’s readiness for roll out on February 21, 2022.

This exercise was a continuation of the production trials carried out over the summer and autumn. It was executed to ensure the industry is prepared to deploy and move its processes to Datahub without severe disruption.

A sufficient number of production events were simulated during the exercise to ensure business continuity. Distribution network operators provided full-scale metering data via Datahub's B2B interface within time constraints, while electricity traders retrieved the metering data transmitted by Datahub from their own message queue, either directly or via the metering data search keyword. Datahub processes worked well, and the exercise achieved the objectives set. A few new operational errors were found, which were resolved quickly.

The Datahub support service received around 600 service requests during the exercise and was able to respond quickly. One area for improvement identified was clarification of the communication channels between Datahub and industry participants.

"Based on the feedback from the industry, the exercise was successful overall and we can confidently move towards the deployment of Datahub in February 2022," says Pasi Aho, Director of Fingrid Datahub.

In July 2018, CGI was selected to design, develop and support Datahub, a next-generation electricity information exchange system for Fingrid Datahub Oy. Datahub stores information on 3.8 million electricity usage points in Finland. Around 100 electricity traders and more than 80 distribution network companies use its data to serve electricity users. In April 2015, Finland’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment asked Fingrid to launch the project.

Fingrid Datahub Oy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fingrid Oyj, established to manage the operational activities related to the Datahub.
