CGI partnered with Nirmaan Organization, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Telangana to donate critical medical equipment to the Mandya District Hospital, located 99kms from Bangalore, India, to bolster their efforts to combat the third wave of the pandemic.

Nirmaan has been investing in communities and supporting government hospitals in the state of Karnataka by providing critical medical infrastructure since the second wave of COVID-19 in March 2021. With the emergence of the new variant and the accelerating third wave, the situation required urgent intervention to support hospitals with critical COVID-19 medical equipment.

CGI with the help of Nirmaan donated 4 Pediatric Ventilators and 45 D-Type Cylinders to deliver high-value critical care to the COVID-19 patients. On February 4, 2022, CGI handed over the medical equipment to the Mandya District Hospital administration during an event. Srividya Nataraj, Vice President - Corporate Services and Executive Sponsor for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Asia Pacific Global Delivery Centers of Excellence and Nirbhay Lumde, Director, Corporate Social Responsibility were at the launch event, while Sudhir S Sharma, Senior Vice-President and Business Unit Leader, Asia Pacific Global Delivery Centers of Excellence joined the event remotely for the launch.

Mrs. S Aswathi, IAS, District Collector, Mandya District, speaking on the occasion, said, “This is a huge support for our hospital to treat critical patients with these 4 ventilator and Cylinders. We had a high flow of patients who required oxygen support during COVID-19 second wave and we anticipate the same in the current wave. The provided equipment will help us tackle the situation, we are grateful to CGI and Nirmaan team for supporting our hospital.”

As COVID created a long-term impact, Nirmaan, with the support of HYSEA and its member companies, worked on the ground to develop critical medical infrastructure in government hospitals. He further shared that the support provided will be helpful to the hospital not only during COVID but also in the long-run and thanked CGI for the kind-hearted support to Mandya Hospital.
