To prepare for the shift to open banking and open finance, National Bank of Canada selected CGI, a trusted partner of more than 20 years, to help strengthen its position in a changing market and prepare for future banking legislation. CGI worked with National Bank’s Open Banking Centre of Expertise to help define a path forward, including identifying priority opportunities, assessing potential use cases and bringing insights from other markets where similar changes had already taken shape. This collaboration helped the bank clarify which products and services to focus on as open banking and open finance continued to evolve in Canada.

The work also helped build a stronger foundation for the future. National Bank developed reusable tools to support continued progress, while its open banking team grew from a small group of experts into a more established unit within the bank. Together, these efforts helped position the organization to move forward with greater confidence in a changing financial services landscape.
